Fact: According to USDA, there are nearly 55,000 dairy farms in America and the average herd size is 138 cows.
  • According to USDA, the majority (77 percent) of all U.S. dairy farms have less than 100 cows.
  • Even though the structure of farms may vary and change over generations, a constant has always been the care of animals and of the environment.
  • As in many industries, corporations are formed because it makes good business sense, in order to pass the farm onto the next generation.
