"Through hard work on our family farm, we teach discipline, commitment and the true meaning of family."

Gerdes Dairy is a three-generation Minnesota family farm whose mission is to work and learn together with our eight children (ages 26 to seven). We’ve been very successful in doing just that.

We consider our farm our classroom and it has been a true blessing for me to have homeschooled all of our children. The purpose of our farm is not only to farm, but to provide a wonderful place to raise a family.

Our ideal setting enables us to provide a solid foundation for our children to build their lives upon. Through hard work on our family farm, we teach discipline, commitment and the true meaning of family.

We stand on strong shoulders from our heritage. Will’s father, Herbert, was 21 when he bought the farm in 1939. Having lived and farmed through the Depression, he was able to provide the values and mission that has allowed us to persevere during tough economic times.

Today, Gerdes Dairy milks 70 Holstein cows that produce an average of 27,500 pounds of milk each on an annual basis. In addition, we farm 300 acres of corn and alfalfa hay.

However, our success is not just about top milk production, nor the good yields on crops. Instead, we measure success by how our family farm helps teach our children the good values in life and helps shape them for a bright and successful future.
